By introducing additional travel choices, Express Lanes will help reduce overall travel times and enhances travel time predictability. Motorists can soon expect smoother routes and improved traffic flow along I-64.
The Chesapeake Express Lanes span approximately 14 miles along I-64, from just east of the I-264/I-664 Bowers Hill interchange, across the High Rise Bridge and up to the I-264 interchange in Norfolk and operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The existing I-64 Norfolk Reversible Express Lanes, located between the I-264 and I-564 interchanges, also have high-occupancy tolling operations full-time.
